“If your site has fewer than 500 pages, you probably don’t need to use this report.” Google suggests site: searches instead to check that key pages are indexed. The report is not meant for checking the index status of specific pages. Use the URL Inspection tool for that (URL Inspection tool ).

“Your goal is to get the canonical version of every important page indexed. Duplicate or alternate pages shouldn’t be indexed.” Don’t expect 100% coverage. Google also notes that indexing new content can take a few days.

Not indexed can be fine: a URL may be excluded “for the right reasons—for example, an expected robots.txt rule on your site, a noindex tag on the page, a duplicate URL, or a 404 for a page that you’ve removed and have no replacement for”. The Source column shows whether the cause is Google or the website. In general, you can only fix issues whose source is listed as Website.

Crawled – currently not indexed : the page may or may not be indexed later, and there is no need to resubmit it. Discovered – currently not indexed : “Typically, Google wanted to crawl the URL but this was expected to overload the site; therefore Google rescheduled the crawl.” Duplicate without user-selected canonical is not an error; it is working as intended.

A page that isn’t indexed can’t be a supporting link in AI Overviews or AI Mode (Google AI Overviews ). This report shows indexing at scale. Diagnose a page not indexed by Google covers fixing one page.
